DeepMark Recognized with Two Best Poster Awards at EEML 2026

From July 27 to August 1, 2026, Cetinje, Montenegro, hosted the Eastern European Machine Learning Summer School (EEML 2026), bringing together students, researchers, and AI practitioners from around the world. DeepMark was represented by five team members at the summer school.
The school featured lectures and tutorials covering topics including deep learning, reinforcement learning, diffusion models, multimodal learning, natural language processing, continual learning, mechanistic interpretability, efficient learning, geometric deep learning, and AI for biology and medicine. The programme included researchers from leading institutions and companies such as MIT, Google DeepMind, NYU, EPFL, the University of Cambridge, and the University of Oxford.
For our team, EEML was a great opportunity to learn from experts working at the forefront of machine learning and to explore ideas beyond our own areas of research. The combination of lectures, hands-on tutorials, project sessions, and informal discussions created an environment where participants could exchange knowledge, share experiences, and discuss new approaches to solving challenging AI problems.
Two Best Poster Awards for DeepMark Researchers
A major highlight of EEML 2026 was its poster programme, featuring 147 research posters.
Two DeepMark employees, Željko Bolević and Lazar Stanarević, participated in the poster sessions with their respective research projects. We are proud to share that both received a Best Poster Award, with each award recognizing a different research project.
One of the two awarded papers was "AWARE: Audio Watermarking with Adversarial Resistance to Edits", a DeepMark research project focused on developing robust neural audio watermarking capable of withstanding challenging real-world and adversarial edits.
Contributing to the EEML Community
In addition to participating in the programme, Petar Nedić joined EEML as a Teaching Assistant, contributing to tutorials, project sessions, and mentoring activities throughout the school.
The week was not only about lectures and research. EEML also provided plenty of opportunities to connect outside the classroom, through informal discussions, poster sessions, social activities, and shared experiences around Cetinje. These interactions helped create a strong sense of community and gave participants the chance to meet people working on machine learning across academia and industry.
For our team, EEML 2026 was a valuable opportunity to learn from leading researchers, exchange knowledge and experiences, share our own research, and build connections within the wider machine learning community.

Events like this remind you that the machine learning community is still small enough to feel personal.
